TREKKING ON THE AMALFI COAST

Il sentiero degli Dei

This Trekking excursion is generally carried out starting from Bomerano (a hamlet of Agerola located at around 650 m above sea level) and then arriving via the famous Sentiero degli Dei up to Nocelle. We, however, in addition to this possibility, want to propose an alternative route which, in addition to being very panoramic, also offers historical and cultural insights. We start from Vettica Maggiore (located along the coast between Amalfi and Positano) and through a comfortable staircase (recently renovated) we reach the religious complex of "San Domenico" in just over half an hour (located in an enchanting position in approximately 400 m above sea level), where it will be possible to visit the church of "S. Maria a Castro" (12th century) and the adjoining Dominican convent which dates back to the 16th century; the place also allows us to pay particular attention to the typical crops of our land.

Our excursion to the Amalfi Coast will allow you to admire breathtaking views and enchanting places.

After about two hours of walking, you reach Nocelle, a small village of just 300 inhabitants which only for a few years has been reachable by a road, so it still retains intact the atmosphere of "once upon a time" which unfortunately is difficult to find nowadays. in more touristy places such as Positano or Amalfi. From Nocelle (where there is also the possibility of refreshment in the only restaurant in the town which guarantees a good quality/price ratio) it is possible either to take a local minibus to Positano or to get there on foot with about an additional hour's walk.

At the end of the excursion it is possible to reach Positano or Amalfi.

After a short stop and a visit to the religious complex, in 30/45 minutes we will reach the famous Path of the Gods, a destination for all trekking lovers, in its most panoramic stretch, continuing from east to west in the direction of Nocelle, we will cross the scrub Mediterranean, holm oak forests and wilder areas with caves and deep inlets, suspended halfway between sky and sea in a unique context in the world. It should not be overlooked that those who suffer from vertigo may have difficulties.

Duration of the entire trekking route: approximately 3/4 hours. Degree of difficulty: medium (in fact, once you reach the "Path of the Gods", the path will be mostly flat and downhill). Particularly suitable for appreciating the Amalfi coast from a privileged point of view to the rediscovery of simple but genuine things. We recommend that you bring comfortable clothing and shoes (preferably long trousers and ankle-length shoes), a camera, water and sunscreen.
